How To Expand Your Services and Gain More Clients
60Increase Your Writing Services without Over Extending Yourself
Regardless of the type of business you may own, the primary objective is to offer services and products that are needed by your target audience. And, with the advancement and development of technology that means constantly evaluating your services to make sure they are keeping pace with supply and demand.
Even if you offer a service that doesn't depend on technology, it somehow bleeds through that you should keep as current as possible on what is needed and what is offered by your competitors. For example, quite a few years ago, house painters simply relied on their brushes, paint, rags, and a ladder to accomplish their project of painting. As time evolved and home projects were being developed and improved, it is now common standard to offer clients a choice of either painting their homes or offering vinyl siding.
By the same token, a service such as writing which seems to be a low maintenance technical skill must continue to evolve as well. Let us imagine that a client wants a book ghostwritten. The status quo for completing this project is to offer a contract, confidentiality agreement and within the contract, payment information is detailed, length of time to complete the project and other crucial information agreed by the service provider and the client. All that is needed is a computer and a simple word processing program such as Microsoft Word. Simple, right?
But, how can you set yourself apart from the millions of others who provide the same service?
Look for ways to market yourself differently. For example, do you have any skills that would fall into the general genre of writing or publishing?
For example: The concept of book trailers has become very popular when marketing soon to be or just published books. Do you have the program on your laptop or computer that will allow you to experiment with this new marketing tool? Take a look at various video websites such as You Tube! and get an idea of what is being offered and the fee associated with it.
Do you have a knack for promotion? Alot of writers and clients don't and that can be an invaluable commodity. Advertise your services anywhere and everywhere. Write a press release to announce these new services. Tell a friend of a friend and ask them to spread the word.
Look for opportunities to enhance and build upon your services at every turn. Have you noticed some people remarking about how they "hate doing" a certain job feature? Evaluate it and see if it is something you enjoy. People will swarm to you if they know you are good at what you do and can take that unpleasant task off their shoulders.
Do you enjoy setting up blogs and maintaining them? Offer to blog for writers or new authors to plug their books. Many people just don't have the time. Create a new email signature tagline that details some of the sought after services you offer and you will be amazed how that increases your business easily and effortlessly.
These are only a few tips, but they are sure to get you motivated and thinking on how YOU can increase your writing services without over extending yourself!
